Photography Guidelines

MCM Comic Con is a vibrant event which offers a variety of photography opportunities. To ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all visitors, we ask that you follow the below guidelines when filming or photographing:

  1. Keep Walkways and Exits Clear
Please be mindful of your surroundings. Do not obstruct walkways, exits, or emergency routes while taking photos. This is vital for maintaining a safe environment for everyone.

  2. Flash Photography Restrictions
To ensure the comfort of all guests, please limit excessive use of flash in all areas to prevent disruption to other attendees. Flash photography is prohibited in certain areas, including but not limited to during panels on all our stages, in the quiet room and at Cosplay Central. Be aware of these spaces and avoid using flashes in sensitive areas.

  3. Respect Venue Photography Policies
Within the MCM halls, you’re free to capture as much content as you wish (providing you adhere to the guidelines and respect fellow visitors). Please note additional approval may be required from Excel in Excel’s public spaces – such as the boulevard.

MCM Comic Con and Excel London have worked together to allow photography and filming to take place in the venue’s outdoor areas, such as the west entrance, treeline area and Royal Victoria Square. However, please remember that these are public spaces where the guidelines still apply, and that the Excel team reserves the right to intervene if such usage is deemed inappropriate, disruptive, or in violation of privacy or safety standards.

  4. No Free Standing Equipment
Any equipment used must be held by the photographer. Free standing equipment or additional equipment held by other people e.g. lights and flashes is not permitted, unless part of a booked trading or exhibiting space. The same applies to Excel’s public spaces – such as the Excel boulevard – and please be respectful to your fellow visitors. This equally applies to all ticket types, including those with a press pass.

  5. Respect Fellow Visitors
It is unacceptable to take or attempt to take photos deliberately geared towards compromising common decency or the dignity of the subject. Permission must be sought from the subject(s) of a photograph before beginning to take photographs; the photographer must also oblige if the subject requests to see the photograph taken. Respect personal boundaries and respect that not all attendees and cosplayers wish to be photographed. Read our safeguarding and harassment reporting policy and report concerns via the app.

  6. Sale of Photography Services
The sale of photography services is not permitted unless pre-arranged with the event organisers. If you plan to sell photograph services to attendees, this must be done as part of an exhibition stand, declared and agreed upon in advance, and strictly limited to your designated stand space.

For this event (23-25 May), venue Photography & Filming permits have been suspended and are not required. Should you wish, you can view the venue’s general guidelines here. Please note, MCM Comic Con and/or Excel London may ask any individual to stop taking photographs or filming at their discretion.

Thank you for your cooperation in creating a safe and enjoyable atmosphere!
