Photography and Video Guidelines
MCM Comic Con is a vibrant event which offers a variety of photography opportunities. To ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all attendees, we ask photographers to follow these guidelines during the event:
- Keep Walkways, NEC General Areas and Exits Clear
Please be mindful of your surroundings. Do not obstruct walkways, exits, or emergency routes while taking photos. Please don't use cables and leads that can cause trip hazards. This is vital for maintaining a safe environment for everyone.
- Flash Photography Restrictions
To ensure the comfort of all guests, flash photography is prohibited indoors throughout the venue. This is for the safety of attendees that are sensitive to bright or flashing lights. Additionally, please limit excessive use of flash in nearby areas to prevent disruption to other attendees.
- No Free Standing Equipment
Any equipment used must be held by the photographer. Free standing equipment or additional equipment held by other people e.g. lights and flashes is not permitted, unless part of a trading or exhibiting space booked through the MCM team. This equally applies to all ticket types, including those with a press pass.
- Respect Fellow Visitors
It is unacceptable to take or attempt to take photos deliberately geared towards compromising common decency or the dignity of the subject. Permission must be sought from the subject(s) of a photograph before beginning to take photographs; the photographer must also oblige if the subject requests to see the photograph taken. Respect personal boundaries and respect that not all attendees and cosplayers wish to be photographed. Read our anti-harassment policy and report harassment via the app.
- Sale of Photography Services
The sale of photography and related services is not permitted unless pre-arranged with the event organisers. If you plan to sell photograph services to attendees, this must be done as part of an exhibition stand, declared and agreed upon in advance, and strictly limited to your designated stand space.
- Use of Smart Glasses
Smart glasses used only for accessibility, captions, or similar non-recording functions are permitted unless otherwise restricted by venue safety rules. All content capture or recordings must obtain the consent of anyone featured, and are subject to our existing guidelines around photography/videography, anti-harassment and use of AI. Recordings are strictly prohibited at all stages and panel rooms, and staff may ask you to disable camera, recording, livestreaming, or AI visual-capture features in restricted areas. The capture light, camera lens, or other recording indicator on smart glasses may not be covered, disabled, modified, or obscured.
Please note, MCM Comic Con or NEC may choose to deny permission to film or photograph at their discretion.
Thank you for your cooperation in creating a safe and enjoyable atmosphere!
