Original voice of Mario to appear at MCM Birmingham Comic Con
We’re proud to announce that Charles Martinet, the original voice actor behind one of the world’s most iconic video game characters is set to attend MCM Birmingham Comic Con from November 28 to 30.
Best known for voicing the titular character, Mario, in the Super Mario video game series from 1991 to 2023, Charles secured the career-defining role for himself when he crashed the voice auditions as the casting team was packing up to end the day.
His first major role in a mainline Super Mario game was 1996’s Super Mario 64, in which he established many of the mannerisms and catchphrases Mario is famous for today. In addition to Mario, Charles also voiced Luigi, Wario, Waluigi and other characters in the Super Mario franchise - as well as the dragon Paarthunax in 2011’s Skyrim.
Charles Martinet will be available for photo opportunities and autographs, and will be taking to the Main Stage at 12:30pm Saturday 29 November for a panel diving into his vocal inspirations and techniques, as well as stories from the development of some of the world’s most beloved games. This panel will be free for all Saturday and Weekend ticket holders.
MCM Birmingham Comic Con will return to the NEC from November 28 - 30, and will be the ultimate destination for pop and geek culture fans, as well as families looking for festive fun. The convention will feature panels, performances, workshops, activities and independent vendors across comics, literature, fantasy, sci-fi, gaming and more.
