MCM Scholarship returns to support young creatives for third year

MCM Comic Con is pleased to announce that the MCM Scholarship is back for the third year, helping young creatives kickstart their careers in creative industries.

The MCM Scholarship was launched in 2024 as a part of a wider initiative to support young people from underrepresented backgrounds who may otherwise struggle to break into the literary, art and video game industries. The scholarship’s return for its third year signals MCM Comic Con’s ongoing commitment to investing in the future of the UK’s creative talent.

The winners of the MCM Scholarship will be granted free entry for all three days of MCM Comic Con this May, a three night stay at a hotel near Excel London and a cash prize of £500. Best of all, the winners will also receive a bespoke itinerary based on their career goals, giving them the opportunity to make connections with leaders in their chosen fields.

Applications for the MCM Scholarship are now open, and close at midnight on Monday 27th April 2026. Anyone with a desire to take the plunge into their dream careers can apply HERE. Winners will be chosen based on the strength of their application and the passion displayed for their chosen field.

In order to have the best shot at winning the MCM Scholarship, applicants are encouraged to describe their current involvement in their desired creative field, list their long-term career goals, explain how winning will help them achieve those goals, and share any relevant portfolio work.

Last year’s winners included:

Muminah Koleoso

Muminah is an aspiring author and poet based in Scotland, who dreams of becoming a widely-read science fiction and fantasy author. Through her work, she amplifies underrepresented voices and pushes genre boundaries, blurring the lines between sci-fi and poetry. She used the MCM Scholarship to help her build a likeminded literary community and host workshops for other marginalised creatives.

Sudipta Patra

Hailing from Northern Ireland, Sudipta is an up-and-coming comic book illustrator and children’s author. The MCM Scholarship helped kickstart his goal of establishing a career as an illustrator and storyteller across comics, children’s books and animation.

Ash Norman

Ash is an aspiring video game concept artist within game development, hoping to start a full-time career at an independent game studio. They used the MCM Scholarship to network with video games industry professionals in attendance at MCM Comic Con and expand their artistry across gaming, music videos, films and comics.

MCM Comic Con returns to Excel London from Friday 22nd to Sunday 24th May, and will offer fans a chance to attend engaging panels, meet their favourite authors, artists, game developers and celebrity guests, participate in workshops and more.

Keep an eye on the official MCM Comic Con pages for the latest announcements as MCM Comic Con reveals more exciting guests, panels and activities in the lead up to the show this May.
