MCM Comic Con Attended By Over 270,000 in 2024

MCM Comic Con was attended by more than 270,000 pop culture fans across its three UK conventions in 2024. Europe’s largest and most celebrated pop culture convention, MCM Comic Con has experienced huge growth in the past four years, solidifying its position as a cornerstone of the pop culture calendar.

MCM Comic Con x EGX in October 2024 marked the first time the two shows were held under the same roof, and welcomed over 130,000 fans across three days at ExCeL London. This marked a 116% increase over the equivalent October show in 2021 four years prior. 

MCM Comic Con Birmingham is also experiencing rapid growth, having welcomed over 40,000 attendees across three days at the NEC Birmingham in 2024. 

To meet the growing demands of so many attendees, ReedPop has introduced several new features to the show in recent years. One of these has been Writer’s Block, the space to celebrate all things literature; including panels, book signings and author tables. Writer’s Block grew 13% year-on-year, with an increase from 76 authors in attendance in 2023, to 86 in 2024.

MCM Comic Con also experienced strong growth in applications for Artist Alley, the place for comic book industry professionals, games industry professionals and independent creators to display their art and meet their fans. 

In 2024, Artist Alley grew by 25% compared to the number of artists tables than the previous year. ReedPop also welcomed the growth of many community-focused features at MCM Comic Con. In October 2024, the show played host to over 800 panels and workshops, many of which were organised and hosted by members of the convention community. 

This follows a trend of an overall growth in exhibitor numbers. The number of exhibitors at MCM Comic Con has more than doubled since 2021, growing from 300 retailers to more than 750 in October 2024.
