London Book Fair with the MCM Team

The MCM Team are exhibiting at London Book Fair this week, so some of the team have shared a recent fave book and why:

Annie

The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake. After having Olivie Blake at one of our events, I’ve been so intrigued to read her work. Dark academia meets fantasy, secret societies, intriguing characters and magic.

Emily

Behind The Net by Stephanie Archer, 1st book in The Vancouver Storm series. I love a hocky romance and this one had everything you needed - a grumpy hockey goalie, forced proximity and an introduction to other characters that crop up later in the series!

Charlotte

Crying in H Mart - Michelle Zauner. This book made me sad, but I loved it. It's a bare and brutal memoir about terminal illness, self discovery, heartbreak and family. The author so perfectly captures the nuances and experience of a being a mixed race Asian child in a way that's raw, personal and devastating, while also being funny at times. If you're in need of a good cry, this is it.

Alice

Butter by Asako Yuzuki. It's an interesting read about some serious topics, but will mostly make you want to cook nice meals for yourself

DJ

Wool – Hugh Howey. I'm currently immersed in the audiobook of "Wool," the novel that inspired the Apple+ TV series "Silo.". After watching the series, I wanted to know more about the universe and to dive deeper. Having dyslexia, reading can be challenging, so I thought that I would use the audiobook to find out more about this book. This book is great and builds on the series and adds so much more depth and understanding of the world that High has created. I’ve really enjoyed listening to this book and can’t wait to listen to the other ones and find out more.

Shelvie

Trial of the Sun Queen by Nisha J. Tuli is a fantasy full of secrets, dangers and trails. The story follows a girl who was raised in prison who’s thrown into a deadly set of trials to become the next Sun Queen. She must decide who she can trust with her secrets or who wants to use her for their own gain to control the kingdom.
