It’s ‘Go Go Power Rangers!’ at MCM Scotland next month with the news that a trio of stars from the iconic ’90s franchise – Steve Cardenas, Catherine Sutherland and Nakia Burrise – will be meeting fans and signing autographs at our Glasgow show.
Skilled martial artist Steve Cardenas played Rocky DeSantos, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’ second Red Power Ranger. Rocky replaced Jason Lee Scott as the Red Ranger, going on to star in 68 episodes of the fan favourite superhero show before becoming the Blue Zeo Ranger for another 50 episodes of Power Rangers Zeo. Cardenas also appeared as Rocky in two of the Power Rangers’ big screen adventures – 1995’s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie and 1997’s Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie.
Australian actor Catherine Sutherland starred as Katherine ‘Kat’ Hillard, the second Pink Power Ranger, in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. An Aussie like her actor, Kat was the final ranger to join the team during the MMPR era, taking over as Pink Ranger from Amy Jo Johnson’s Kimberly Hart partway through the show’s third season. Catharine returned as the statuesque Kat in sequel series Power Rangers Zeo and Power Rangers Turbo, as well as the feature-length Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie.
After making her debut as young teen Tanya Sloan in the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Nakia Burrise became a member of the main cast for sequel series Power Rangers Zeo and Power Rangers Turbo. After the Zeo Crystal made the tomboyish Tanya the same age as the other Rangers, she joined the team as the new Yellow Ranger, learning martial arts from Tommy Oliver and Adam Park. Big-hearted and fiercely loyal, Burrise’s Tanya also starred in Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie, where she pilots the Dune Star Turbozord.
