Ian McElhinney (Game of Thrones, Rogue One) and Dylan Llewellyn (Hollyoaks, Frequencies) are the latest additions to MCM Manchester Comic Con’s ever-growing guest list. The duo appear together in Derry Girls, the critically-acclaimed comedy series about four teenage girls (and a boy) growing up in Northern Ireland during the Troubles.
Dylan Llewellyn stars as that lone lad, James Maguire – continually teased for not only being the only boy at an all-girls school, but one who was born and raised in England to boot! Since making his on-screen debut in The Bill in 2010, Llewellyn has played Martin ‘Jono’ Johnston in long-running soap Hollyoaks and spin-off series Hollyoaks Later, while his big screen credits include well-received indie sci-fi film Frequencies.
Derry Girls sees Ian McElhinney appear as Granda Joe, Erin and Orla’s grumpy, no-nonsense grandfather. Belfast-born McElhinney is best known for playing Ser Barristan Selmy in HBO megahit Game of Thrones, one of the few truly honourable characters in a series awash with treachery, skulduggery and deceit. Other credits include Rebel general Jan Dodonna in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Val-El in Syfy superhero series Krypton.
