It’s ‘Go Go Power Rangers!’ at MCM London this October with the news that two of the stars of the iconic ’90s series, Steve Cardenas and Catherine Sutherland, will be joining us for all three days of Britain’s biggest pop culture festival.
Skilled martial artist Steve Cardenas played Rocky DeSantos, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’ second Red Power Ranger. Rocky replaced Jason Lee Scott (played by previous MCM London guest Austin St. John) as the Red Ranger, going on to star in 68 episodes of the fan favourite superhero show before becoming the Blue Zeo Ranger for another 50 episodes of Power Rangers Zeo. Cardenas also appeared as Rocky in two of the Power Rangers’ big screen adventures – 1995’s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie and 1997’s Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie.
Catherine Sutherland starred in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers as Kat Hillard, the second Pink Power Ranger. An Aussie like her actor, Kat was the final ranger to join the team during the MMPR era, taking over as Pink Ranger from Amy Jo Johnson’s Kimberly Hart partway through the show’s third season. Catherine returned as the statuesque Kat in sequel series Power Rangers Zeo and Power Rangers Turbo, as well as the feature-length Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie. Sutherland has also returned to voice characters in series such as Power Rangers Wild Force.
