From contemporary hits Fortnite and Minecraft to old school delights on a host of classic platforms, this month’s MCM Birmingham Comic Con is bringing the gaming goodness with a brand new area of the show – Side Quest.
As well as featuring two of modern gaming’s biggest success stories, with 30 free play screens devoted to blockbuster battle royale game Fortnite and another 30 for much-loved block builder Minecraft, our new Side Quest area will give show visitors the chance to get hands-on with a wide range of classic retro titles.
Side Quest’s 37-piece retro selection includes Point Blank, Tekken 3 and Crash Team Racing on the PS1; Time Crisis 2, SSX Tricky and Katamari Damacy on the PS2; Bubble Bobble and Super Mario Bros. on the NES; Street Fighter 2 Turbo and Super Mario World on the SNES; Super Smash Bros. Melee and Donkey Konga on the GameCube; Star Fox 64 on the N64 and OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast on the Xbox.
Meanwhile, Sega fans will have a tonne of nostalgia-inducing titles to sink their teeth into, with MCM Birmingham’s new games area playing host to Alex Kidd in Miracle World and Double Dragon on the Master System; Streets of Rage 2 and Sonic 1, 2 and 3 on the Mega Drive; Sega Rally Championship and Virtua Fighter on the Saturn; and Crazy Taxi and Powerstone 2 on the Dreamcast.
You’ll also be able to give your thumbs a workout on Fatal Fury for the Neo Geo, MineStorm for the Vectrex and R-Type for the PC Engine, as well as a selection of games for the Commodore 64, Atari 2600, BBC Micro and ZX Spectrum.
