Anime, Boba Fett & Cosplay: The A,B,C of Midlands Comic Con 2013

Once again, MCM Midlands Comic Con proved to be a huge success, with MCM’s first event of 2013 seeing thousands of visitors flock to Telford International Centre for a fun-packed day of movies, games, cosplay, comics and all-round geeky goodness.

This year’s special guest line-up included British actor Jeremy Bulloch, famous for his role as Star Wars’ iconic bounty hunter Boba Fett, Primeval stars Andrew Lee Potts and

Hannah Spearritt (of S Club 7 fame), Mass Effect voice actor Alix Wilton Regan and the first comic con appearance by Eoin Macken, best known as Sir Gwaine in BBC fantasy series Merlin.

Meanwhile, Namco Bandai’s stand showed off gorgeous-looking Japanese RPG Ni No Kuni: Wrath Of The White Witch; Konami provided a sneak preview of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance as well as its ever-popular Yu-Gi-Oh! collectable card game; and Manga Entertainment and MVM both dished up some great deals on anime DVDs and Blu-rays. Metal mayhem was also on the menu, with Robots Live pitting the battling bots of BBC’s Robot Wars against each other in gladiatorial combat.

As always, MCM Midlands Comic Con’s cosplayers also brought their A-game, with many visitors attending dressed as their favourite anime, manga and videogame characters. There were some great costumes on display, and our Cosplay Masquerade gave some of the best cosplayers the chance to strut their stuff on stage. Big thanks to everyone who took part in this year’ show – we’re looking forwarded to seeing you all again in 2014.
