Anthony Mackie, who stars as Sam Wilson – aka high-flying hero The Falcon – in Marvel’s ongoing superhero movie series, is the latest special guest to be announced for next month’s MCM London Comic Con, attending the Saturday and Sunday of the Excel show.
Mackie joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Sam Wilson in 2014’s acclaimed Captain America: The Winter Soldier, reprising the role in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ant-Man and Captain America: Civil War. A war veteran and PTSD counsellor, Anthony’s character takes to the skies to fight crime as The Falcon, swooping into combat courtesy of a jet-powered winged flight suit and accompanied by his bird-like drone Redwing.
Hailing from New Orleans, Anthony Mackie got his big screen break playing Papa Doc in Eminem vehicle 8 Mile, and has since gone on to appear in films such as Clint Eastwood’s Million Dollar Baby, sci-fi thriller The Adjustment Bureau and multiple Academy Award-winning war drama The Hurt Locker. However, it’s for his Marvel movies that MCM Comic Con fans will know him best …and the good news is there’s more on the way, with Mackie set to appear once again as The Falcon in next year’s all-star Avengers: Infinity War.
