Louise Brealey, who plays mortician Molly Hooper on hugely popular detective series Sherlock, will be one of the special guests meeting fans and signing autographs at next month’s MCM Liverpool Comic Con, the show’s organisers have announced.
Working in the morgue at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, Brealey’s character is more comfortable with the dead than the living. But don’t mistake Molly’s lack of social skills for a lack of intelligence – she’s good at her job and, in some ways, more perceptive about the real Sherlock than he is himself.
One of the nicest characters on the show, Molly is also somewhat of a humanising influence on the über aloof Sherlock, whom she is hopelessly in love with. And while Molly’s affections aren’t likely to be returned any time soon, she is one of the few people the great detective trusts with his secret when he fakes his own death in Season 2’s finale.
A writer, producer and journalist as well as a film, TV and stage actor, Louise Brealey’s small screen credits beyond her breakout role in Sherlock range from Casualty and Law & Order: UK to Ripper Street and the BBC’s Emmy-winning 2005 production of Bleak House.
