Here’s what happened last time! Come back for November updates.
Steampunk Emporium along with the Ministry of Steampunk are back at MCM Birmingham!
This year they aim to not only bring you the best exhibits from the world of Steampunk but are also offering makers’ talks and workshops. This means you can get new ideas, learn new skills or even have a go at making your own Steampunk items to enhance your costumes and outfits.
This year they will have new exhibition pieces in our popular ‘Steam Wars’ series and the ‘Wall of Heroes’ by artist and author John Naylor. John is usually making props for television but can never resist the urge to create some steampunk goodies. He will be joined by Mark Goodman from ‘Mostly Curious Games‘ who will also be displaying some of his work. Mark makes all his pieces at home in his spare time and is happy to share his wealth of knowledge over the weekend.
Kind Hearts and Coronets will be displaying their gowns and unique handmade jewellery. Dee Fisher from Second Coming will also be joining them too. Dee is one of the UK’s leading upcyclers and creates a distinctive style of Steampunk clothing. Do check out her display too as she has just returned from Downunder’ so will have some new and exciting designs. TV Costume Designer Karen Grover will be joining us on Sunday only with a new Steampunk take on some well loved Disney characters in addition to her popular Steampunk fashions. We also have not one but two skilled leather workers joining us. Mark Simpson of Broadarrow Jack and Sam Holyfield of the Steampunk Emporium are always happy to offer advice and tips or you can simply admire their work.
Gary Nicholls is the creator and author of ‘The Imaginarium Trilogy’, a 450 image fine art story ‘The Imaginarium’. An intricate, fantastical, dark but ultimately beautiful steampunk story through the unique medium of fine art images. If it can be dreamt, it can be created. Reality is for people without imagination and Gary’s imagination has no bounds, no journey impossible, no step is a step too far, dark steampunk is the order of the day. At MCM he will be exhibiting 5 new images from book 2 in the trilogy, giving a sneak preview of what is coming, and limited edition first booker will be on sale.
