Shiver me lasers! A dynamic duo of space pirates are bound for Brum this March, with Guardians of the Galaxy stars Michael Rooker (The Walking Dead) and Sean Gunn (Gilmore Girls) both set to meet fans at MCM Birmingham Comic Con.
Michael Rooker plays pirate chief Yondu, ruthless leader of the Ravagers and protagonist Peter Quill’s adoptive dad, in Marvel’s 2014 superhero space opera and its 2017 sequel, while Sean Gunn appears as Yondu’s loyal second-in-command Kraglin. Gunn also performed the on-set motion capture for Rocket Raccoon in the Guardians movies – a role he’s set to reprise later this year in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War.
Beyond the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Rooker is best known for playing redeemed bad guy Merle Dixon in hugely successful zombie show The Walking Dead and his breakout role as the title character of Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer. Other credits include Days of Thunder, JFK, Tombstone, Mallrats, Mississippi Burning and Slither.
The younger brother of Guardians director James Gunn, Sean Gunn starred as quirky but good-hearted oddball Kirk Gleason in cult favourite comedy drama Gilmore Girls. Gunn’s other small screen appearances include Angel, Bones, Glee and 3rd Rock from the Sun.
