Baker – whose brash, opinionated Time Lord battled Cybermen, Daleks and other iconic foes in 35 episodes between 1984 and 1986 – will be meeting fans on the Saturday of the show.
MCM Birmingham Comic Con will play host to a time-travelling trio from the classic days of Doctor Who when the pop culture festival returns to the NEC next month – Fifth Doctor Peter Davison and two of his companions, Janet Fielding (Tegan) and Sarah Sutton (Nyssa).
Peter Davison stepped into the shoes of Doctor Who‘s iconic time-travelling hero in 1981. Sensitive, vulnerable and dandily dressed as an Edwardian cricketer, Davison’s boyish incarnation of the Doctor stayed at the helm of the Tardis for four years, battling famous Doctor Who villains such as the Daleks and Cybermen across 70 episodes.
A show regular from 1981 to 1984, Janet Fielding’s brash Aussie airline stewardess Tegan Jovanka made her debut in Fourth Doctor Tom Baker’s last serial ‘Logopolis’, before going on to accompany Peter Davison’s Time Lord on his travels. Bossy, abrasive and down-to-earth, Tegan formed an odd-couple friendship with much quieter fellow companion Nyssa.
And speaking of Nyssa, Sarah Sutton’s sweet, tech-savvy teen biologist was also a companion to both the Fourth and Fifth Doctors. One of the most accomplished TARDIS pilots amongst all Doctor Who companions, Nyssa joins the Doctor after her father Tremas is possessed by the Master in ‘The Keeper of Traken’ and her home planet destroyed.
